Fox totally blanked on it at first, staring at the paper for a good five, ten minutes before finally coming up with something. "I wish we had more work"? no, that sounded too selfish. "I wish I didn't have to pay off the Great Fox"? No, too pathetic. "I wish he wasn't dead"? "I wish I'd had more time with dad"?... Nah, too depressing. "I wish I knew whose neck to break for-" okay no, too violent. He was probably missing the point of this thing completely, but try as he might, Fox just wasn't good at being selfish. Even if it wasn't actually being selfish.]
